Nipple clamps are often used in various forms of BDSM, the more extreme nipple clamps can cause a hight amount of pain. However, there are many nipple clamps that are meant for the average person who engages in simple bondage or sensation play.
There are many different types of nipple clamps available, from adjustable nipple clamps, so you can set exactly how much pressure you enjoy the most, to vibrating nipple clamps, giving you extra sensations. Some more intense nipple clamps come with chains attached allowing you to add extra pressure by lightly pulling on it or by adding small weights.
If you've never tried them and you enjoy the sensations that are created when someone lightly pinches or nibbles on your nipples then you should try some of these great nipple clamps.
Using nipple clamps
The first thing to remember when using breast toys is to not let yourself be limited to nipples alone! Although they are designed for nipples there is a wealth of other sensitive areas, especially in the genital region, for both men and women, that are prime clamp candidates.
And don't forget, pretty much all nipple clamps can also be used as nipple clamps for men, there are very few differences except the ones made for women have a clit clamp as well and the ones for men often have some sort of cock ring as the attachment.
When using nipple clamps on the nipples you should first make sure your nipple is nice and erect, either through direct manual stimulation or any means that you can imagine, a nice ice cube works wonders. Place them on a bit slowly at first if you don't know the clamp's strength so you don't get a negative shock which could take you out of the mood. Adjustable nipple clamps are great for beginners as you can keep them a bit 'lighter' to start with.
The more flesh you are able to clamp the less intense the sensations will be, so when you're ready to increase the nipple clamp's intensity just clamp less flesh. Once the clamp is firmly in place you can then stimulate the nipples in many different ways, limited only by your imagination, possible options could be feathers, your partners tongue or a vibrator works well also.
Don't leave them on for too long, especially the more extreme nipple clamps, some clamps restrict blood flow a fair amount, so 15 minutes should be your limit before giving the nipples some recovery time. And remember, removing the clamps can be the most 'intense' part of the whole scenario as blood flow returns rapidly to the nipple and nerves bounce back to their original positioning.
Everybody's nipples are different as are their limits, some nipples are very sensitive and some are not, so don't feel embarrassed if you don't enjoy as much as your partner.
For those who are into the more intense nipple clamps you should look for endurance clamps, these are typically very similar to other styles of nipple clamps however they have one big difference: they are unadjustable. This means that they are always at full strength.
Remember to always clean your nipple clamps regularly, as with any sex toy, a clean nipple clamp is a happy nipple clamp.
If you're new to nipple clamps then you'll probably want to start here. Adjustable nipple clamps will give you full control over the tightness level.
Alligator Clamps
These are probably the most common form of nipple clamp on the market as they are fully adjustable, great for beginners and can produce either a very light amount of pressure or they can pinch quite hard.
The pressure is adjusted with the twist of a screw, the screw is placed in the middle of the clamp and as it's twisted it either forces the clamp open or allows it to close.
Tweezer Clamps
Tweezer clamps are very elegant, probably the most elegant of all the styles. They are long and thin, essentially they are a very large set of tweezers, thus the name, that have rubber tips.
A ring is pushed up the clamp to change the pressure, the further up the clamp the ring is pushed, the tighter the clamp will become.
Many tweezer clamps come with some sort of adornement, often times a little jem-looking piece dangling from the end.
Barrel Clamps
Press Clamps
As opposed to the alligator style which want to close but are held open by a screw, press clamps are more like a vice. They won't close by themselves, you add pressure by turning the attached handle until the desired level of pressure is acheived.
These clamps tend to need a bit more nipple to work well than do alligator or clover styles and can be difficult to use on many men.
Endurance Clamps (non-adjustable)
Endurance clamps are employed by more advanced users, this is due to the fact that you can't ease up on their pressure, they are full on, all the time.
The only way to reduce the pinch with these clamps is to grab less flesh, the less flesh you get, the more of a pinch you will feel.
Clover clamps are a special style of clamp, they're a bit larger than most when you first look at them and have an odd figure-eight look to them. And more often than not, when you see them, they are connected by a chain.
What makes these clamps special is that they're not too powerful when you first put them on, however, as you add pressure to the chain, either by pulling or by adding weights, the clamp will actually increase in pressure. The harder you pull the tighter they become.
This is a very popular style of nipple clamp and is often used by those who sometimes enjoy a bit more bite to their clamp and sometimes like them a bit lighter. You get a lot more control with these than most other clamps, I highly recommend them.
Most vibrating clamps are of the fully adjustable alligator variety. Typically they are nothing more than the clamp with a vibrating bullet attached directly to it.
Some of them have the batteries attached to the clamp themselves, making each clamp an independent toy. With these you adjust the level of vibration directly from the clamp itself.
The other style has a hand-held control panel that contains the batteries, this is then connected to each of the vibrating nipple clamps. The benefit to this is the clamps themselves are lighter and easier to manage, however, the drawback is that you have to worry about wires dangling everywhere.
These are great for adding a new sensation to your nipple play, but if you don't like the bulk of these toys, you can always just use your own bullet vibrator directly on the nipple itself once it's clamped.
There are many places to buy nipple clamps, here are what I believe to be the best retailers. I tend to choose the best store by their selection as opposed to price as price variances are typically minimal. The links to the stores are below the table.
