Butterfly vibrators are very popular clitoral vibrators that can be used completely hands-free, freeing them up for other activities. One of the most common shapes of these vibrators is the butterfly, which is why the name butterfly vibrator became the norm. Despite their common name, butterfly vibrators come in many different shapes, including dolphins, birds, clam shells and various other insects.

One of the main reasons why the butterfly shape became so popular is its wings, strapping the butterfly vibrator so its back is pressed up against your body allows the wings to stimulate not only the clitoris but a large area around it as well. Other shapes such as the clam don't have the extra parts to provide vibrations to much other than the clitoris itself.

Butterfly vibrators are usually built in three parts:

1) The body: This is the part that vibrates and is in the resembles a butterfly or other shape.

2) The straps: These are what makes this vibrator hands-free, wrapping them around your waist or hips will hold the body of the vibrator in place.

3) The control panel: This is what adjusts the vibration settings and turns on and off the power, some butterfly vibrators don't have a control panel but instead have a simple on/off switch on the body itself.

Different types of butterfly vibrators are out there although they can generally be placed into one of the three following categories:

The standard butterfly vibrators

This typical vibrator is what you're most likely to see when searching for butterfly vibrators. It has the body, the straps and the control panel or on/off switch, the control panel often contains the batteries and is attached to the body by a wire.

Wireless butterfly vibrators

In as much as these are similar to the standard butterfly vibrators there is one very important difference. As you've probably guessed, these vibrators have a wireless control panel. Since there are no wires, these make great toys for couples and solo play in public locations. If you need a little relaxation while at work these will certainly do the trick. The one major drawback is that the vibrator battery can't be contained in the controller which adds some weight and bulk to the body of this vibrator.

Butterfly vibrators with vaginal and/or anal attachments

If you're looking for a bit more from your butterfly vibrator then you need look no further than one of these little guys. Not only are they hands-free like the other butterfly vibrators but they've also got extensions on them that can be used as insertion toys for your anus or vagina, there are even some with attachments for both. The attachments often come in the shape of an actual part of the insect or animal that the body's in the shape of, for example, the tail of a scorpion.

Materials used to make butterfly vibrators are the same as those used for many other sex toys. These materials can include plastic, silicone, latex and others.

No toy box should be without a butterfly vibrator, they can be used in solo play or even during intercourse for added stimulation. There are many women who even wear them when they go to work.
